Overview
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every living cell and central to redox reactions that power cellular energy production.
It is one of the most-studied molecules in aging and metabolic research, of interest for its role as a substrate for sirtuins and PARP enzymes and for the observation that NAD+ levels decline with age in research models.
Mechanism of interest
- Redox carrier — cycles between NAD+ and NADH to shuttle electrons in cellular energy metabolism.
